Injury, crutches, ?DVT

Image
So this happened: I ruptured my achilles tendon. I've been in a cast for the last two weeks, on crutches. This has given me time off work but at the same time everthing else is taking longer to do. Not just that, over the last few days the pain has worsened significantly and a d-dimer test today (after waiting in A&E for 9 hours) was positive, indicating a likely dvt. We plan, but Allah plans... I will have to reschedule my hifz accordingly. If anyone is reading this, duas please... Also I havent been able to go to read to my teacher. We did try a few lessons on the phone. It actually worked suprisingly well initially but then we kept missing each other (one or the other was busy) and he went back to Egypt.

·           I haven’t blogged for a while, so an update, mainly because I was simply driven to finish Surah Baqarah by the end of March, by March 31 st . This didn’t happen, although I did finish on Wed 6 th   April 2016 alhamdulillah. Partly because also my 7 year old laptop is so slow it’s a pain to do anything. I’ve got a new phone though, and can blog via the app on there so inshaAllah will strive to  ·           Surah Baqarah is complete – Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah. This is a huge milestone for me. From within 6 months of starting this, to working the silly hours that I do, to be experimenting as to my way of learning, and now to have memorised Surah Kahf and Surah Baqarah. ·           The thought of quitting had crossed my mind at some point, prior to the completion of Surah Baqarah. Another reason why I had stopped ...

Hifz: Recovery Plan

So it finally happened - I got to a point where I missed a day, then another..then 6 days went by. This was compounded by the heartsinking constant feeling knowing that different parts of my previously learnt parts were anywhere from very strong to weak to crumbling to gone. This last week has been horrible - almost like a bereavement, a feeling of hollowness and emptiness as I simply didnt even touch the Quran. I sincerely hope this is because a connection is developing between myself and Allah and his words, and less so because I've fallen behind in my plan and goals. But today I started reading again, and made a plan and instantly feel better. As when we fall down, its more important to learn and make ammends rather than sulk. The two biggest problems I've had until now: I've not had a consistent plan for everything that I've learnt i.e. revision Stumbling across unfamiliar words, because I hadnt learnt them advanced enough in ANKI WHAT HAS TO...
